Where is the Lake Louise Gondola located?

The Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola is located at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, on the eastern side of the Bow Valley in Banff National Park, Alberta. It is across the valley from the village of Lake Louise and the famous lakeshore rather than being directly at Lake Louise itself.

The gondola departs from the resort’s base area on Whitehorn Mountain. The resort is roughly 5 km from the Village of Lake Louise and about 10 km by road from the Lake Louise lakeshore and Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

From the Town of Banff, the Lake Louise Ski Resort is approximately 60 km northwest, generally around a 45–50 minute drive depending on traffic and road conditions. It is reached from the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) using the Lake Louise area exits and the access road leading to the ski resort.

This location is one of the reasons the sightseeing experience has such impressive views. The gondola climbs the northeastern slopes of Whitehorn Mountain, placing visitors on the opposite side of the Bow Valley from Lake Louise. From higher on the mountain, you can look southwest across the valley toward Lake Louise, Victoria Glacier, Mount Victoria, and the surrounding peaks.
