What is the elevation at the top?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift

What is the elevation at the top?

The top of the Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola is approximately 2,088 metres (6,850 feet) above sea level on Whitehorn Mountain.

The gondola begins at the Lake Louise Ski Resort base area at roughly 1,640 metres (5,380 feet), giving you an elevation gain of about 450 metres (1,470 feet) during the ride.

It is important to distinguish the gondola's upper station from the actual summit of Whitehorn Mountain, which is considerably higher at approximately 2,637 metres (8,652 feet). The sightseeing lift takes you partway up the mountain rather than all the way to the summit.

At around 2,088 metres, you're high enough to get expansive views across the Bow Valley toward Lake Louise, Victoria Glacier, Mount Victoria, and the surrounding Canadian Rockies. Temperatures can also be noticeably cooler than at the base, particularly on cloudy or windy days. Book the Banff Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift
