Is there food at Sunshine Village?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift

Is there food at Sunshine Village?

Yes. Food and drinks are available at Sunshine Village, so you do not necessarily need to pack a full lunch for a summer sightseeing or Sunshine Meadows visit.

The village has several dining facilities associated with Sunshine Mountain Lodge and the surrounding resort area. Depending on summer operations, you can typically find options ranging from coffee and quick snacks to more substantial meals. Mad Trapper’s is one of the main casual dining spots at the village, while other lodge dining facilities may operate on different schedules.

This makes it convenient to ride the gondola up, explore Sunshine Meadows or the Standish area, and return to the village for lunch or a drink. It can be particularly nice after a longer hike because you don't have to carry a full meal throughout the day.

However, not every winter restaurant operates during the summer, and individual outlets and hours can change. It is still a good idea to carry water and a few snacks, especially if you plan to spend several hours hiking away from the village.

Food services are concentrated around Sunshine Village rather than along the Sunshine Meadows trails, so once you head into the meadows, you should not expect cafés or food stands at the viewpoints. Book the Banff Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift
