Is there a restaurant at the top?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift

Is there a restaurant at the top?

Yes. There is an on-mountain restaurant associated with the Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola. Whitehorn Bistro is located at about 6,700 feet (2,042 metres) and is reached as part of the summer gondola experience. It is one of the highlights of visiting the upper mountain.

Whitehorn Bistro offers sit-down dining in a casual alpine setting, with contemporary Canadian and farm-to-table-style dishes. The setting is a major part of the experience: the dining room and outdoor patio provide expansive views across the Bow Valley toward Lake Louise, Victoria Glacier, and the surrounding Canadian Rockies.

It is particularly enjoyable for a leisurely lunch or drink after the gondola ride. You don't need to hike extensively to make dining here part of your visit, although there is a short distance between the gondola arrival area and the restaurant.

A valid sightseeing gondola ticket is required to reach Whitehorn Bistro during the summer. Walk-ins are accepted, while reservations are available and can be worthwhile during busy periods. In the 2026 summer season, the restaurant is scheduled to operate daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through October 11, although mountain operations can change.

Whitehorn Bistro is the main on-mountain dining experience at the Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola, and it is much more than a basic cafeteria or snack stop. It is designed as a destination restaurant where visitors can combine lunch with some of the best elevated views in the Lake Louise area.

The restaurant sits at approximately 6,700 feet (2,042 metres) on Whitehorn Mountain. Its location gives it a spectacular outlook across the Bow Valley toward Lake Louise, Victoria Glacier and the surrounding peaks. On a clear summer day, the scenery is a major part of the meal, particularly from the outdoor seating areas. Book the Banff Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift
