Is it open every day during summer?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift

Is it open every day during summer?

Yes. During the 2026 summer sightseeing season, the Lake Louise Summer Gondola is scheduled to operate every day, including weekends and holidays. Daily operations run from June 5 through October 11, 2026.

The gondola is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the final ride down from the upper mountain at approximately 5:10 p.m. You don't need to select a specific gondola departure time; boarding is continuous during operating hours.

Even though it is scheduled to operate daily, weather can temporarily interrupt or suspend operations. High winds, thunderstorms, lightning, or other adverse mountain conditions can affect the lift, so conditions are worth checking on the day of your visit.

In July and August, daily operation makes the gondola particularly easy to incorporate into a Lake Louise itinerary—you can choose a weekday for potentially lighter crowds or visit on a weekend without having to worry about a regular weekly closure.
