Yes. The Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola generally feels less crowded than the Banff Gondola, particularly once you reach the upper mountain.

The Banff Gondola on Sulphur Mountain is one of Banff National Park's most heavily visited paid attractions. Its proximity to Banff, year-round operation, large summit complex, restaurants, boardwalk, and famous panoramic views attract substantial numbers of visitors. During peak summer periods, the base terminal, gondola cabins, observation decks, and Sanson's Peak boardwalk can all become busy.

The Lake Louise Gondola has a different atmosphere. Although it can certainly be busy during July and August, the experience tends to feel more spacious and nature-oriented. Once you're on Whitehorn Mountain, visitors disperse among the viewpoints, interpretive areas, restaurant, and hiking trails.

Whitehorn Mountain also has less of the large indoor attraction atmosphere found at the Banff Gondola. The emphasis is more on wildlife, hiking, mountain scenery, and exploring the natural environment.

The difference becomes particularly noticeable if you hike away from the main upper lift area. Even when the gondola itself is busy, the trails can quickly feel quieter and more peaceful than the heavily travelled Sulphur Mountain boardwalk.

Weekday mornings are especially good if you want to avoid crowds. During peak summer, arriving near the beginning of sightseeing operations can provide a noticeably calmer experience.

If your priority is a polished summit attraction with extensive facilities and dramatic 360-degree views, the Banff Gondola has the advantage.
