Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

How high does the gondola go?

The Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola climbs to roughly 2,088 metres (6,850 feet) above sea level on the slopes of Whitehorn Mountain.

The base area sits at about 1,640 metres (5,380 feet), so the lift gains approximately 450 metres (1,475 feet) of elevation during the ride.

That elevation gain is enough to dramatically change the perspective. By the time you reach the upper area, you are well above much of the Bow Valley, with broader views toward Lake Louise, Victoria Glacier, surrounding peaks, forests, and the valley floor.

The gondola does not take you to the actual summit of Whitehorn Mountain. Instead, it reaches a developed upper-mountain area where visitors can enjoy viewpoints, hiking opportunities, wildlife watching, and the surrounding alpine scenery.
