How far is it from Banff?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift

How far is it from Banff?

The Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola is approximately 60 km (37 miles) northwest of the Town of Banff, at the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

Driving from Banff usually takes about 45–50 minutes via the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1), although summer traffic can make the trip longer. The drive itself is very scenic, following the Bow Valley through Banff National Park with views of the surrounding Canadian Rockies.

If you're planning a day trip from Banff, allow about one hour each way to give yourself some flexibility for traffic, construction, wildlife slowdowns, and busy periods around Lake Louise.

The gondola is also conveniently positioned for combining with other Lake Louise-area attractions. Lake Louise Village is only about 5 km away, while the Lake Louise lakeshore is roughly 10 km away by road, making it practical to experience both the sightseeing gondola and Lake Louise during the same day.
