Can babies ride the gondola?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift

Can babies ride the gondola?

Yes. Babies can generally ride the enclosed Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola, making it possible for families with infants to enjoy the sightseeing experience.

For a baby, the enclosed gondola is the appropriate choice rather than the open-air chairlift. It provides a protected cabin away from wind, rain, and the exposed feeling of the chairlift, and it makes it easier for parents to manage an infant during the ride.

A baby carrier can be particularly useful once you reach the upper mountain. The terrain and walking areas can be less convenient for strollers, especially if you plan to explore beyond the main developed areas.

Keep in mind that conditions at the upper elevation can be significantly cooler and windier than at the base, even during summer. Bring warm layers, sun protection, and rain protection for your baby, and be prepared for rapid changes in mountain weather.

If you're travelling with a very young infant, it's also sensible to check the resort's current infant, carrier, and lift-loading requirements before your visit, as operational policies can change.

For families with babies, the enclosed gondola is generally the most comfortable and practical way to experience Whitehorn Mountain. Book the Banff Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift
