Can I take public transportation?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift

Can I take public transportation?

Yes. You can reach the Lake Louise Summer Sightseeing Gondola using public transportation, although it may require a connection depending on the service operating during your visit.

From the Town of Banff, Roam Transit Route 8X provides service to the Lake Louise area. From there, you can use local transportation connecting Lake Louise Village with the Lake Louise Ski Resort, where the sightseeing gondola is located.

It is important to distinguish the Lake Louise Ski Resort from the Lake Louise lakeshore. They are separate locations on opposite sides of the Trans-Canada Highway corridor, and a bus going to the lakeshore does not necessarily stop at the gondola.

Public transportation can be a good option during the busy summer season because you avoid driving and parking logistics. However, schedules and seasonal connections can change, so allow extra time if you are transferring between services.

If your main destination is specifically the Summer Sightseeing Gondola, make sure your final bus or shuttle stop is at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, not simply Lake Louise Village or the lakeshore. Book the Banff Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola & Standish Chairlift
